Her mother is a writer, and her father is a philosopher. Very early in her childhood, her father noticed her talent for art and sent her to an art school. Later, she attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Saint-Petersburg and in 2004 she received Masterʼs degree of Fine Arts, specializing in oil painting.\r\u003cbr\u003e\r\u003cbr\u003eDuring the years Anastasia spent in France and in New Mexico, USA, she participated in several shows and was honored with various awards. In 2005, she received the Jury's choice award and the Southwestern prize from the Roswell Fine Arts League and the New Mexico Art Society. Currently Anastasia lives and works in Vancouver, BC where she is continuously inspired by the beauty of its nature and scenery. Her medium of choice is oil and acrylic on canvas, which is an ideal match for her symbolic style that bridges the gap between classical school painting and decorative art. Her paintings often contain figurative elements that transcend the reality of everyday life.\r\u003cbr\u003e\r\u003cbr\u003eAnastasia’s artwork has been shown in the Greater Vancouver area since she moved here in March 2006. She has been an active member of the Federation of Canadian Artists since 2012 and of the North Vancouver Arts Council since 2015.\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch4\u003eARTIST’S STATEMENT\u003c\/h4\u003e\u003cp\u003eI like to create pictures. I love the smell of oil paint; the texture and tension of the canvas; the resistance and softness of the brush; and the color and consistency of the oils. For me, the process of creating an artwork is like a journey to a distant country from which I come back with a magical gift intended to please the eye and to share. Each painting embodies a little piece of my life, a piece of my personal experiences. The journey happens within myself as an exploration of my inner world, immersion into deeper feelings, and connection with myself on a different level.\r\u003cbr\u003e\r\u003cbr\u003eMy artistic vision allows me to express what can’t be articulated with words. The viewer is welcome to connect with my reality, to dive into my world, and to connect with my soul through the emotional context of each artwork.\r\u003cbr\u003e\r\u003cbr\u003eI love decorative elements, bright colors, figurative elements, and clean compositions. Even involuntarily, my attention is drawn to them in ordinary life. Oftentimes, it is how ideas for my paintings are born. Later they are embodied in sketches and then transferred to a large canvas. Sometimes just a plant in a pot on a windowsill next to a watering can or some droplets on window glass may be enough to inspire me, spark an idea or create a concept.\r\u003cbr\u003e\r\u003cbr\u003eAlthough my inspiration originates mostly from life and nature, I gladly and gratefully enjoy the right not to follow and worship my direct observations blindly, nor not to be its slave.
