Home All

Originally from Nottingham, England; now making Ottawa my (artist) home. This was the catalyst for my artist journey; so since 2019 I’ve been a self-taught abstract artist mainly using acrylics and various mediums.

With my background of graphic design, my influences with the likes of the Bauhaus movement to Gerhard Richter are translated into my artist creations.

I’ve had the privilege of being involved in some established art shows (group/juried) and continue to participate in future shows. This aids in my development as an emerging abstract artist.

ARTIST’S STATEMENT

With my graphic design background, I have an inherent desire to sketch out my ideas (pen-to-paper before paint-to-canvas) and plan out, on my computer before transferring to a canvas. Utilising these design principles generally allows me to be more expressive with my composition and overall layout.

My work is abstract in nature, using the subtly laying over of various harmonious colours; that shows this state of movement within a specific space - current works / creations includes the formation of interweaving lines and swirls; using different receptacles to create various thicknesses. I will make slight modifications to allow for more control over the flow of paint. I’m particularly drawn to the specific hues of blues and reds within my work; and like to play on the negative connotations, as I find they bring a certain warmth and more importantly depth to my paintings.
