Raised in a family of painters, she grew up immersed in color, form, and artistic inquiry. Her layered abstractions offer a contemplative escape from the noise of daily life—inviting viewers to slow down, look closely, and reconnect with a sense of wonder.\r
\r
Informed by memory, light, and lived experience, Clare’s process is both intuitive and precise—built over time through subtle shifts in texture, hue, and rhythm. Her paintings and prints reside in private collections across the U.S., and are valued for their serene presence and emotional clarity.\r
\r
Winslow studied art at The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., and completed additional training in screenprinting at the Corcoran College of Art and Design. She teaches art and printmaking throughout the D.C. area.

ARTIST’S STATEMENT

An artist doesn’t need to wait for inspiration to create meaningful and impactful work. Even so, I draw creative energy from the natural world, memory, and my emotional responses to both current and past events. Making art allows me to find perspective amid anxiety and disruption—a way of grounding myself in uncertain times.\r
In my recent paintings, I’m drawn to the idea of harmonic drift—a visual and emotional rhythm that emerges in the space between stillness and movement, presence and change. Each piece reflects a personal attempt to navigate complexity through slow, layered processes. My work embraces impermanence, reminding us that transformation—though often disorienting—is a vital and universal force.\r
Ultimately, I hope these paintings offer viewers a quiet space to breathe, reflect, and reconnect—with themselves, with each other, and with the shifting world we all share.

Acrylic on canvas.

24x18x1"

Inspired by the joyful and expressive rhythms of jazz pianist Monty Alexander, "Monty's Song" is a visual interpretation of music in motion.
