"Looking Back" was inspired by a hike in Kananaskis, AB. The golden larches, which grow in the mountains, turn a brilliant yellow for only a brief time each fall. These trees, which only turn their brilliant yellow during this short season, have become part of a beloved tradition for us—we make it a point to visit them every year. I’m captivated by how the distant yellows create a sense of space and atmosphere, contrasting beautifully with the purple-gray mountains and the close-up greenery lining the trail.
