Jessica Lozada a self-taught Toronto based photographer & painter
Born in Toronto, Ecuadorian roots. My mother and my family back home truly inspired my photography and painting. I was taught acrylic painting by arts professor in Ecuador took classes every summer. Helped paint and decorate floats for Carnival. After painting classes I would spend the rest of my day adventuring off into the woods, hiking and taking pictures of nature, movement and understanding the true balance of life.
I picked up my first camera at the age of eight always taking pictures of nature, expressions, movement. Photography makes me feel free and truly appreciate small details. Being diagnosed with Endometriosis at the age of 14 my whole world fell on my shoulders. Photography kept me out of a dark place and allowed me to enjoy the little moments in life.
Taking an image, freezing a moment, reveals how rich reality truly is.
