Summer fishing trips in the remote bush with his father were formative in his appreciation of the natural world, especially sightings of moose, beaver and the wild trout that they caught.\r\u003cbr\u003eAs a young man Julian enlisted with a volunteer organization to teach secondary school in rural Kenya. That experience was transformative for him as he adapted to the landscape and culture while appreciating the wildlife and most importantly, the people. That experience established his African wildlife photography.\r\u003cbr\u003eFast forward through a career in environmental conservation to the present. Julian resides in British Columbia, one of the most biodiverse places on Earth where he enjoys photographing iconic Canadian wildlife whenever possible.\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch4\u003eARTIST’S STATEMENT\u003c\/h4\u003e\u003cp\u003eHealthy and functioning ecosystems are essential for sustaining life on Earth. The photos I take are a silent homage to the various and wonderful species that make up those ecosystems. My geographic scope is primarily Canada and East and Southern Africa, which are very different habitat types.
