She has partnered with interior design firms and art curators in the Southeast. Past juried exhibitions include Shain Gallery’s Up and Coming Invitational, the MBA Art Show, Artclectic, ArtXtravaganza, District Gallery, \u0026amp; Spotlight on Art. She is represented by Rennie Art Company (Richmond VA) and Camellia Art (Hilton Head SC).\r\u003cbr\u003e\r\u003cbr\u003eInfluenced by childhood summers in the mountains and by the organic rhythms of her mother’s garden, Kate’s work is a celebration of color, shape, texture, and pattern. With a background in clinical social work, she approaches her work as a visual mindfulness practice, providing viewers a place to pause and reflect.\r\u003cbr\u003e\r\u003cbr\u003eKate graduated from Davidson College where she received formal studio art and art history education. She lives in Nashville, TN, with her family and is driven by collaboration and a commitment to giving back to her community through her work.\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch4\u003eARTIST’S STATEMENT\u003c\/h4\u003e\u003cp\u003eI create abstracted representational paintings focused on still life and landscapes. Working in mixed media, I develop custom colors guided by an intuitive sense of color theory, creating compositions that evoke a sense of calm energy. My work explores the interaction between unexpected color combinations, irregular shapes, and playful compositions. I layer acrylic paint, collage elements, graphite, and oil pastel  on stretched canvas or wood panels to create texture and interest.\r\u003cbr\u003eMy preference for organic forms was largely shaped by carefree childhood summers in the Great Smoky Mountains and my mother’s garden and floral designs. My connection to the outdoors and my part-time social work practice deeply influence the way I observe and convey the world around me. Through painting, I process emotional weight while creating work that feels hopeful, calming, and quietly energetic. \r\u003cbr\u003eBelieving that both viewing and creating art are acts of mindfulness, I approach each piece with a sense of presence, allowing spontaneity to guide my process. My work conveys a sense of freedom, groundedness in the present moment, and the feeling of being fully alive.
