Her work is humorous, optimistic, and playful, presenting “life as it could be” rather than how it objectively appears. \r\u003cbr\u003e\r\u003cbr\u003eAlongside her studio practice, Lily has developed an active mural practice, completing private and public commissions since 2021, translating her painting language into large-scale works.\r\u003cbr\u003eHer work has been exhibited in Vancouver through galleries and studio exhibitions. \r\u003cbr\u003e\r\u003cbr\u003eLily studied painting at Emily Carr University of Art and Design and continues to develop her practice through both studio and public art projects.\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch4\u003eARTIST’S STATEMENT\u003c\/h4\u003e\u003cp\u003eMy practice explores the relationship between memory and imagination, and the ways the two intersect and influence one another. Familiar people, places, and objects are reinterpreted through an emotional lens rather than a literal one, allowing fact to become something less fixed and more fantastic. Through this process, I am interested in creating images that feel like fragments of a memory rather than exact recollections—filtered through emotion, imagination, and the passage of time.\r\u003cbr\u003eI approach painting as a form of storytelling, playing make believe with my own memories until they’ve been shaped into a fragmented fiction. My subjects often depart from realism, finding form through an expressive, cartoon-like visual language of distortion and transformation.
