She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film Production from Concordia University, in Montreal, and is also a graduate of the Ontario College of Art and Design in Toronto, where she majored in photography. Maria is a film maker of short films, as well as being a visual artist and has received awards for both her photography and short films.
ARTIST’S STATEMENT
Maria has had a life long fascination with trees and how their forms interact with the landscape, both constructed and natural. Trees are living art forms, sculpted by the hands of Mother Nature, responding to their environments in a myriad of ways. The beauty of their forms reveal the conditions in which they have survived and have many stories to tell us about our planet earth.

Crossroads are a place where you meet, mingle, and make choices, such as which direction to take. They can be a significant marker as they signify choice, both physically and spiritually, representing things unknown and the potential for change. They are found everywhere in nature and our urban environment. Crossroads can be a space in time, place, and mind, considered to be a point of creative power, full of possibilities and inspiration.
