Natalia Ackers
As a teenager, I took as many visual art classes as possible throughout high school, however, as a child of well-intentioned Eastern European parents who strongly encouraged more ‘traditional’ career paths, my post-secondary journey ended with a law degree while my artist output was reduced to doodles on draft contracts and legal note pads. After years of dedicating myself to my legal career, I was feeling frustrated and burnt out and, in an attempt to fulfil a creative void I was feeling, I picked up a paint brush in fall of 2016 and haven’t stopped painting since!
ARTIST’S STATEMENT
I approach each piece with a general concept and palette in mind and then let the work take me on an adventure as it evolves with each drag of paint across the canvas. My works range from expressions of calm tranquility to wild and vibrant patterns, each piece ultimately being a reflection of my current or desired mood.
