Through the process of investigating places in depth, often from a wandering pedestrian’s point of view, new ways of seeing are uncovered. Using experimental digital processes and extreme closeups, she examines the mutating landscape of neighborhoods and cities through the lens of psychogeography,  Mars' work has been shown at the Crowell Public Library of the City of San Marino, Consulate General of Mexico in Los Angeles, Gogga Books, among others. In the photos I have attached from my series Soft Detour, I used extreme close-ups and experiment with color to push the limits of photography into what painters do with landscape. I love making site-specific bodies of work like this one that traced the visual change of the seasons as the natural landscape mutated throughout a year, hyperfocusing on the transformation of the earth. Through my lens, the world dissolves into abstracted shapes and colors that represent the passing of time, weather, and volatility. Logic and linearity are pushed to the side when I'm walking and wandering. I think about psychogeography and the effect of a landscape on my emotional state.
