Dasha Silkova embarked on her artistic journey relying on her innate creativity and passion. Prior to diving into the art world, Dasha made a bold career transition, leaving behind a successful marketing career to pursue a diploma at Sheridan College. Emerging as a newcomer to the fine art scene in 2023, she quickly gained recognition through exhibitions at Rainbow Studio Gallery, Queen Elizabeth Community Centre, and the Colour and Form Society. Alongside her artistic pursuits, Dasha shares her expertise as a teacher at Rainbow Studio Gallery, nurturing budding talents and fostering artistic growth within the community.
ARTIST’S STATEMENT
I am Dasha Silkova, a new and emerging artist based in Oakville, Ontario, primarily working in acrylic and watercolor. My work celebrates the enchanting union between nature and fantasy. With aerial perspectives and vibrant color palettes, I strive to evoke a sense of lightness and whimsy, while inviting viewers to momentarily escape into a parallel universe governed by its own enchanting rules. I draw inspiration from both Eastern animation and Western classical art, employing a diverse range of techniques and perspectives into my paintings.
