Since beginning her professional practice in 2020, she has quickly established a strong presence in the regional arts community, earning recognition for both her technical skill and her commitment to continual artistic growth.\r\u003cbr\u003eAdele’s work has been featured in numerous juried and group exhibitions across British Columbia, including recurring selections for the Women in Art show at the Kariton Art Gallery and multiple exhibitions with the Federation of Canadian Artists Gallery in Vancouver and the Postcard Exhibition in the Hague in the Netherlands. In 2022, she received two significant honors: tying for 4th place in the American Art Awards and being named Emerging Artist of the Year by the Abbotsford Arts Council, and this year she is nominated for the Arty Award in the 2D Visual category. Her paintings were represented by Le Hang Art Gallery and Pacific Art Gallery in Vancouver.\r\u003cbr\u003eIn addition to her exhibition record, Adele maintains an active teaching practice, offering oil painting instruction to seniors both in her studio and through the Abbotsford Recreation Centre. She continues to refine her craft through ongoing mentorship with artist Dene Croft in North Vancouver. Fussi\r\u003cbr\u003eI began painting in the winter of 2020, when the Covid pandemic brought my community to a standstill. What started as a way to fill the quiet hours quickly became a profound source of purpose and joy. At 67, I discovered a passion I hadn’t known was waiting for me—oil painting—and now that I am 73, it has transformed my life.\r\u003cbr\u003eAs a Cree woman, I feel a deep connection to the land, its stories, and its spirit. My landscapes are inspired by the majesty of the Coastal and Rocky Mountains, places that have shaped my life and grounded my identity. Throughout my years skiing, golfing, skydiving, and canoeing, I have always been captivated by the colours, rhythms, and compositions found in nature. Painting allows me to honor those experiences and express the reverence I feel for the natural world.\r\u003cbr\u003eMy heritage also draws me toward the spirituality of totems and the ancestral presence embedded in the West Coast landscape. As a distant relative of Louis Riel, I often reflect on his words: “My people will sleep for 100 years, but when they awaken, it will be the artist who will give them their spirit back.” This belief guides my work. I paint to celebrate the beauty of Mother Nature, to preserve it for future generations, and to contribute to the cultural voice of my community.\r\u003cbr\u003eI live in Abbotsford with my husband, Albert, and our dog, Esmi. I am a wife, mother, grandmother, and proud Indigenous artist. Since beginning my artistic journey, I have been honored to receive the Emerging Artist of the Year Award (2022), place fourth in the American Art Awards (2022), I have been internationally recognized and published, and I have earned Active Status with the Federation of Canadian Artists.
