“Beholden” is one of the couple paintings in the Lucid Collection with bright magentas contrasting the blues. I wanted to add a contrasting colour to these beautiful serene blues as a reminder that inner peace is not a linear process, there are always detours in our progress. Through accountability and self-forgiveness I’m slowing learning how to behold my life.
This mixed media painting has multiple layers of various materials including inks, acrylics, pigments, and resin. Each layer acts as a painting of its own while it complements the layers beneath it. Every layer is sealed with UV protective resin, until the painting is complete.
With this body of work, I am aiming to use colour opacities to ignite emotional clarity, portray the beauty that can be found in fear. The painting adapts itself to different lighting and you can see so many different hues depending on how the light hits it! I hope you can get lost in the layers and intricate details like I have!
This painting is signed and dated and comes with a certificate of authenticity.
It will be shipped via Priority Shipping through Canada Post with tracking. Please note that due to COVID-19 there are major delays with mailing services and “Guaranteed Delivery” dates are only estimates.

ARTIST’S STATEMENT
Nik Torres is a Toronto based, Colombian and Canadian mixed media abstract artist. She explores her experiences of migration and self-discovery as she finds her way through harmonizing colors and textures. These abstract narratives allow her to reconcile with her feelings of displacement, and cultural identity, while she strives to resolve her own mental health path and find love within herself. Her work creates subtle voices of serenity, and harmony that can resonate with viewers who are aiming to reconcile with their own internal struggles.
