Rooted in research-driven studio experimentation, his work investigates themes of identity, memory, cultural presence, and the evolving realities of contemporary Black life across Afro-diasporic contexts.\r\u003cbr\u003e\r\u003cbr\u003eHe studied Fine and Applied Arts (Painting) at the Institute of Management and Technology, Enugu, Nigeria, graduating with distinction in 1999. Drawing from lived experiences shaped in Nigeria, and later within the diaspora, Ananaba develops works that reflect on urban Afro-cultural expression, particularly through fashion, movement, music, and everyday social experience.\r\u003cbr\u003e\r\u003cbr\u003eAnanaba has exhibited locally and internationally across Africa, Europe, the Middle East, and North America. His work has appeared in institutional and touring exhibitions including It’s About Time: Dancing Black Canada 1900–1970 and Now at Dalhousie Art Gallery and The Secret Codes at Textile Museum of Canada. He was the recipient of the Art Masters Award and served as the 2024 Artist-in-Residence at Visual Arts Nova Scotia.\r\u003cbr\u003e\r\u003cbr\u003eHis work has been featured in publications including Culture Kaleidoscope: 100 Artists of Our Time (2025), Fashion: A Second Language (2020), Masters of Watercolor (2018), Fashion Illustration Africa (2016), and Artists of Nigeria (2012).
