ARTIST’S STATEMENT
What’s my favourite colour? I don’t play favourites. I love them all and that’s why they show up in my paintings. The brighter the better. I am an optimist by nature.
Out walking, nature’s compositions talk to me. On canvas, surprising colours jump off my palette.
I seek to create contemporary landscapes liberated from realism, showing the spectacular of nature. I express my connection to nature with confident, gestural brushwork and exuberant colour combinations. They convey not only what I SEE but HOW I feel.

This magical scene was experienced on a drive in rural Ontario. I have reinterpreted it in heightened tones of blues, greens and purples to remember that hopeful spring day! It is unframed but also available in a custom wood frame...please enquire!

On a walk by the Rouge River in Ontario, I was struck by the dense tangled trees in the adjacent forest. This painting is thick with several layers of colours and textures, suggesting a depth which is best experienced IRL!
