Art became my voice and, at times, my armor. That early instinct never left me; it simply matured.\r
\r
My practice began in mixed media, where I explored the layered nature of identity: the idea that every person carries within them an authentic story still becoming itself. Over time, that inquiry moved me toward abstract landscape painting, where I now work primarily with an impasto palette knife technique. The materials have changed, but the questions haven’t. \r
\r
Each layer of paint, built and worked into the next, still asks what lies beneath the surface, of a place, a memory, a person. For me, the process is where the meaning lives. Building a painting layer by layer mirrors the way I understand experience itself: nothing arrives whole, everything accumulates. My work invites the viewer into that same act of looking beneath the surface, offering not just a landscape to observe but a journey to share.

ARTIST’S STATEMENT

As an artivist, my work is both my voice and my vision —a way to educate, elevate, and challenge perceptions. Through my creations, I invite others to see the world through my lens, inspiring new perspectives and fostering shared understanding.\r
\r
Art became my refuge and strength during childhood, helping me navigate the complexities of my identity. Comic books sparked my imagination, teaching me that creativity could be a superpower. Over time, I realized I couldn’t stay hidden in fantasy — I needed to bring my imagination to life. This discovery became the foundation of my practice: creating worlds that reflect my journey and forge connections with others.\r
\r
For me, art is about layers — each piece revealing truths about humanity and identity. Working with mixed media allows me to unify materials in a process that mirrors life itself: intricate, dynamic, and transformative. In my abstract work, I strive to capture the rhythms and patterns of existence, expressing the essence of our experiences through color, texture, and harmony. My identity profoundly shapes my art, infusing it with authenticity and purpose. Each creation is a reflection of my story and an invitation for others to discover their own.

Acrylic on canvas.

36x36x3"

This piece was part of a series called Requiem to Claude Monet.
