He has participated in solo and group exhibitions in Canada and Europe, and has received professional grants from the Ontario Arts Council and the City of Ottawa.  He is represented by Gallery St. Laurent and Hill.\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch4\u003eARTIST’S STATEMENT\u003c\/h4\u003e\u003cp\u003eMy paintings are the result of a process of translation, visually filtering an image through my own \u003cbr\u003ememories into paint. The paintings are an attempt to project the viewer into an imaginary space and \u003cbr\u003eallow them to visually penetrate that space. \u003cbr\u003eThrough my art works a type of new pattern is occurring. Images are taken out from their real \u003cbr\u003econtext, transformed and given a completely new meaning in a new composition. New ephemeral \u003cbr\u003espaces are created. Spaces that are personal and collective experience and intend to disrupt the \u003cbr\u003eusual expectations of painting. My works aim to bring together diverse, often contradictory \u003cbr\u003econcepts, elements and to assemble them into powerful and at times unsettling images.\u003cbr\u003e I am altering, manipulating coherent images and creating representations that do not conform with \u003cbr\u003ethe viewer’s expectations or with cultural conventions. I do not intend to create works that have a \u003cbr\u003ecertain style. I let myself constantly surprised by things around me. I use images that have \u003cbr\u003esignificance in the context I take them from and I am emptying these images of any significance. I \u003cbr\u003eam assembling together images that do not have any relations to each other, creating completely \u003cbr\u003enew spaces, compositions.
