Working primarily in acrylic painting, Lynn creates psychologically charged figurative and symbolic works that examine transformation, desire, power, identity, and the tension between the sacred and the profane.\r\u003cbr\u003e\r\u003cbr\u003eAn artist since adolescence, Lynn has developed an extensive independent body of work spanning more than four decades, including hundreds of paintings, sculpture and taxidermy-based works, film, and installation. She studied art and design at Capilano University and attended the Lorenzo de’ Medici Institute in Florence, Italy, where she studied painting and drawing.\r\u003cbr\u003e\r\u003cbr\u003eHer work has been exhibited in galleries, juried exhibitions, festivals, and artist-run contexts, and her film work has received festival recognition. Based on British Columbia’s Sunshine Coast, Lynn continues to develop an evolving archive of paintings and interdisciplinary work through Pacific Spirit Fine Art.\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch4\u003eARTIST’S STATEMENT\u003c\/h4\u003e\u003cp\u003eMy practice moves between the expressive, the illustrative, the conceptual, and the intuitive. I work primarily in acrylic, creating colourful paintings of animals, landscapes, nature, the human figure, and symbolic or mythological subjects.\r\u003cbr\u003e\r\u003cbr\u003eI am particularly interested in the spirit and emotional presence of the creature and the land. Animals and natural environments are not simply subjects to reproduce realistically; I want to capture something of their character, energy, atmosphere, and essence. Colour, gesture, symbolism, and intuition allow me to explore what exists beyond literal representation.\r\u003cbr\u003e\r\u003cbr\u003eMy paintings also draw deeply from my own life, experiences, spirituality, and ongoing process of transformation. Some works are immediate and visually accessible, while others move into more psychological, mythic, sensual, or conceptual territory. These themes often overlap. A landscape can carry an emotional or spiritual narrative, just as a figurative or mythological painting can contain elements of the natural world.\r\u003cbr\u003e\r\u003cbr\u003eI enjoy working on a large scale and continue to explore the possibilities of large canvases. I am always developing new ways of seeing and expressing, rather than repeating the same image or formula. Every painting is approached as its own entity, with its own personality and essence, and stands independently within my evolving collection.\r\u003cbr\u003e\r\u003cbr\u003eLiving on British Columbia's Sunshine Coast has opened a new chapter in my relationship with the landscape. I am spending more time exploring the forests, coastline, wildlife, and changing environments around me, and these experiences are beginning to inform a growing body of landscape and nature-based work. I expect this exploration to continue alongside my deeper mythic, psychological, and conceptual practice.\r\u003cbr\u003e\r\u003cbr\u003eUltimately, I am interested in creating paintings that feel alive—works with their own presence, emotional character, and visual language.
