Taken in September 2013, just days after the Self-Anchored Suspension (SAS) span opened to the public, this photograph provides a unique \"passing of the torch\" perspective from the water's edge on Treasure Island. This perspective, captured from directly beneath the structures, emphasizes the sheer scale of the project and the fleeting moment when two icons shared the same horizon.\r\u003cbr\u003eNote: Just three days after the new eastern section of the Bridge was open I decided to take a drive across the bridge.  I drove east from my home in Daly City to Oakland.  Then I turned around and drove west back towards San Francisco.  I decided to get off at Yerba Buena Island thinking I would drive up to the top of the Island to try to take a photo of the Bridge from up on high.  Instead, the road was open down towards the base of the bridge so I headed that way.  I kept driving, and driving, and driving, expecting at some time to come to a dead end or some security people telling me turn around.  But there was no one there!   I drove as far as I could down at the bottom of the bridge and found a place to park.  I got out of the car and started to walk through the construction site as far to the east as I could.  I was AMAZED there was no one there!  I walked as far as I could under the bridge and snapped this photo.  On the right hand side is the old bridge that has been torn down.\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"David Louis Klein","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":44461004292199,"sku":null,"price":1210.0,"currency_code":"CAD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0063\/3038\/4487\/files\/1_1787240626_64182.jpg?v=1787240656","url":"https:\/\/helloart.com\/fr\/products\/echoes-of-the-span-the-bay-bridge-transition","provider":"helloart","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
