Born in Ghana, Jasmin-Nicole is a Canadian emerging visual artist. Jasmin is a graduate of OCAD University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in the Drawing and Painting program. Her art practice focuses on a contemporary representation of Black womanhood and West African culture through figurative art, abstraction, and sacred African braiding practices.
ARTIST’S STATEMENT
I am a Toronto based visual artist and freelance hairstylist. My current body of figurative and abstract artwork serves as a vehicle for accessing ancestral memories, and my dreams which yield growth, structure and forward thinking. Through an intuitive process of visualization, I paint and draw to explore spirituality, wellness, sensuality, and nature to communicate my lived experiences.
