Acrylic on stretched canvas.

35.40x35.40"

This floral piece was created during the winter of 2021 when the world went into yet another lockdown. The explosion of pinks, blues, violets and greens was my ode to the upcoming spring, my expression of hope and joy during a dark time of fear and uncertainty. Swirling brushstrokes for the petals of the three focal flowers were used to indicate a sense of petals moving in and out of each other. The same dynamic brushstrokes were applied to the foliage which are positioned randomly to show a feeling of being swayed by the flowers as well as providing an anchor for them. The use of a variety of colors itself was a strategic choice to keep the viewer's eyes moving from one element to another (lilacs done using a finger painting technique; cosmos flowers done using palette knife and filler flowers using a filbert brush to indicate volume and depth.

The sides of canvas are painted using the same color palette as the painting. The artwork is signed on the front and dated on the back. It is varnished and will arrive ready to hang.
