I discovered each is wearing the same large medallion around their necks and decided to key in on this element. In the Met Open Access Archives, I found a Victorian mourning brooch in which the hair matched that of the women in Wrought (another piece in the tryptic). I wanted to explore the nature of inheritance and what carries forward with women through generations. \r\u003cbr\u003e\r\u003cbr\u003eIn Carried, I reconstructed the cabinet card of the youngest figure, layering in the faces of her mother and grandmother. Then, I placed the mourning brooch in the center of the piece.
