I stepped outside one winter night and looked down at Old Town, and the cold was the kind that makes everything go quiet — the air, the town, everything. Yellowknife's winter nights are long and dark, and the light below seemed all the more precious for it. Small pockets of warmth against an enormous darkness.\r\u003cbr\u003eThere is something about knowing a place intimately that changes how you photograph it. This wasn't a scene I discovered — it was a view I lived with.
