It's the largest painting that I've ever undertaken. It demands attention and dares you to step in.\r\u003cbr\u003e\r\u003cbr\u003eA dear friend spoke to me about the times he's traveled by canoe in an area called Wambach. He told me about where he would put his canoe into the water after a portage (a portage is when you carry your canoe and supplies on land from one place to another) on his travels through Campbell Lake and eventually to the French River. So many explorers, courier des bois and adventures including some of the group of seven have taken such a route. You travel through one of the oldest mountain ranges on earth with weathered rock that are the oldest on the planet. They are Precambrian rock between 1 and 4 1\/2 billion years old. Canadians call this the Canadian Shield that ranges from the North West Territories to Ontario and then to the Laurentian Mountains in Quebec.
