Instead of emerging from the sea surrounded by the beauty and mythology of the original painting, Venus stands in front of a chain-link fence—a familiar, everyday barrier that changes the way we see her.\r\u003cbr\u003e\r\u003cbr\u003eBehind the fence, fragments and elements from The Birth of Venus are scattered and layered together, turning the original image into something more fragmented and contemporary. A fighting fish appears beside Venus, introducing an unexpected sense of tension, competition, and vulnerability.\r\u003cbr\u003e\r\u003cbr\u003eAt the bottom of the fence, three transparent images of Venus appear almost like fading memories or reflections. The repeated faces suggest different versions of the same ideal—beautiful, familiar, but increasingly removed from the original.\r\u003cbr\u003e\r\u003cbr\u003eWith Venus Redux, I’m interested in what happens when an image we recognize as a symbol of beauty and perfection is taken apart and placed in a new context. The work brings together classical art, popular imagery, repetition, and digital manipulation to question how images of beauty are preserved, altered, and understood over time.\r\u003cbr\u003e\r\u003cbr\u003eRather than simply recreating Venus, I wanted to give her a new setting and let the surrounding imagery change her meaning.
