Agatha Chacinski

Agatha Lidia Chacinski, a first-generation citizen of Canada, was born 1986 in Beaver Hills House (Edmonton), on Treaty Six Territory. Despite Agatha’s love of the arts starting at age four, her career led her into psychology. Realizing she missed a vital component of practicing art in her life, she returned to her passion in 2017, pursuing a career as a self-taught artist.
Agatha is a mixed media artist, working in watercolour, acrylic, gouache, ink, coloured pencil, linoleum printmaking, and digital illustration.
ARTIST’S STATEMENT
As a self-taught artist, I have always found art to be a necessary part of my life. Since I started creating at the age of four, it has been a passion of mine to produce art that pushes the boundaries of my comfort zone. Each piece captures a portion of my soul that I have poured into each work; never limiting myself to one medium of choice. The subjects of my works have continued to be nature based, as nature has had an equally important role in my life. Nature showcases the variety of beauty that is on our planet, the divine femininity of life. It touches on the strength and power that nature holds, but also its fragility. It can heal us but also humble us. My goal as an artist is to provoke emotion in the viewer, whatever it may be. If a patron stops and feels a connection with my piece, then I have done my job as an artist.
