I am a contemporary artist from Toronto, Canada who is inspired and influenced by past and present Canadian art, Impressionism, and use of colour, and light. Although I have been sketching, drawing and painting all my life, it has only been in the last few years that my passion to create has become a full time endeavour. I have been able to share my deep love of art, the stories that inspire each piece, and their personal meaning. I do hope you are touched by them as well.
ARTIST’S STATEMENT
Art has always been a big part of my life. As far back as I can remember, I have always drawn, painted, etched and created. I have seen the world as if every image, moment and place could be a drawing or a painting.
I have used many different mediums, such as watercolour, acrylics, and pastels over the years but I am most passionate about oil on canvas. I love vibrant colour, and brush strokes that creates energy.
I am inspired by the places I visit, the people I meet; a walk, a hike, a memory. Many of my pieces are directly influenced by these moments. They inspire me to capture their essence.

I'm a plein air artist which means that I'll take my easel and paints outside and paint what I see. When the weather gets cold, it can be a difficult exercise. As the weather gets very cold, just before snow flies, I'm reminded that there's beauty even when the leaves have fallen, the sky turns to grey, and the waters get cold. This has a group of 7 feel, ultra Canadian in tone and approach with the strong lines that I enjoy. Crawford Lake.

The Rocky mountains are incredible and truly leave you in awe. Whether you're a skier, a climber or simply an adventurer visiting, they will take your breath away. They impact your spirit and give you a sense of the incredible. When a sunset is also part of the beauty, it's beyond words. The sky is black and void of light so every star is bright, every sunrise or sunset a wonder. Peak through the new fallen snow that has fallen on the branches, across the frozen and snow filled lake towards the heavens. Breathe in light. Breathe in beauty.

Winter can be cold. When you peel back the temperature and get outside on a sunny crisp day, spend some time exploring the the way the light shines on the crystalized snow and the play of colour in the shadows. On a walk recently I came across this scene that made me smile. It is my Winter's glow.

This work is all about balance in impossible settings. Incredible how nature shows us this. Majestic trees growing from rock, water against land and wind, subtle delicate details against jagged edges and yet, it all works harmoniously. Crawford Lake is truly a place that inspires. I think I'll sit here and ponder for a moment!

I'm pleased with the depth of colour, the play of light and the way it truly has conjured up the spirit of Casson, a great Canadian Group of Seven artist who painted en plein air. I chose to paint this in a fusion of styles that mixes a little Casson with a little me. It's now what I want it to be!

I have been contemplating both light and darkness in life and in the world around me. When I'm faced with a choice, I always choose light, colour, hope and love. This one evening on the Bruce trail has provided me with revelation, inspiration and hope. Seeing the colours move from daylight through to nightfall, I am inspired by nature's beauty and spirit. Before Nightfall, the woods radiate and become glorious!

I love it when I see it in a sunrise, sunset or as I walk through forests and fields. It makes no pretense. It's the essence of love and where I want to be in life and in art. I was struck by the twilight one evening and was moved by the iridescent glow of vibrant colour and light through the leaves. Autumn dazzles and slapped me awake. Feel the beginning of something.
