ARTIST’S STATEMENT
Artist Statement | Aprajita Lal
My art begins with a deep, enduring love for nature and its ability to move us in ways words cannot. I am drawn to the interplay of light and shadow, the stillness of water, the quiet presence of trees, and the fleeting beauty of flowers. Whether I am painting a landscape, a waterscape, or a floral composition, I seek to capture not simply what I see, but what I feel.
Through expressive color, layered textures, and atmospheric depth, I transform moments in the natural world into visual experiences that invite contemplation and emotional connection. My paintings are shaped by a desire to preserve the feelings that nature awakens in us: peace, wonder, nostalgia, and the sense of belonging to something larger than ourselves.
For me, art is an opportunity to hold onto the fleeting. A particular quality of light, the quiet of a forest, or the reflection across still water can become a lasting presence on a wall, offering a moment of pause amid the rhythm of everyday life.
My intention is to create work that resonates beyond its visual beauty, inviting each viewer to discover a personal meaning within it. I believe the most meaningful art does more than occupy a space. It changes how that space feels and becomes part of the stories, memories, and lives of the people who collect it.
Ultimately, I paint nature not only as it appears, but as it stays with us.
