Bill Lunshof
Newmarket based fine artist Bill Lunshof grew up in a Dutch immigrant family and had an interest in the visual arts from an early age. Also an avid gardener and photographer, Bill’s work takes much of its inspiration from nature. He has been painting for the last 12 years. He is a member of two local art groups – Newmarket Group of Artists and Society of York Region Artists.
Bill paints in water soluble oils. He likes to portray rural Ontario and often includes old barns, houses and buildings in his work. He is fascinated by how light affects the landscape and tries to capture that in his work. He also enjoys painting en Plein Air and can be found with his easel set up in and around his home town of Newmarket when the weather allows.

I painted this last summer en plein aire and always knew that I would paint a studio version at some point. This barn is just elevated enough to catch the evening light in a beautiful way.

A favourite subject of mine - this little wetland is sandwiched in between two subdivisions and is right off a major thoroughfare. But it seems to thrive and has its own magic.

I love to find and paint old vehicles in their natural state of decay. This one I found with the morning light just getting high enough in the sky to dapple light over it beautifully.
