ARTIST’S STATEMENT

Her work is greatly influenced with natural themes, each painting displays a thoughtful playfulness found in the honesty of seeking out mysteries, the unearthing of ideas. An appropriation of forest and trees, the earth’s bountiful colors are brought to surface in the artwork. Her work represents nature’s rhythms and celebrates the endless array of color found in nature. An array of motion, transformation and natural curiosity fuel her imagination and surface in her artwork.

A variety of mediums and surfaces are utilized, including inks on paper, oil on canvas, and acrylic on mannequins. Hirsch's dot paintings are created using iridescent acrylics on black cotton etch paper. Much like space, the depth that the blackness creates is endless, fueled by her imagination. Dots, or cells are shown merging, separating and evolving into an array of life forms. Her love of nature is profoundly evident and constantly appearing in her art.

She currently lives and works in Brooklyn, discovering the land of her parent’s youth. Her and her partner love to explore at Fort Tilden, Shirley Chisholm State Park and the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge year round. All of nature, be it large or small is capable of astounding.
