Candice Grant is a Surrey, BC–based self-taught contemporary abstract artist exploring how a landscape can be experienced not only as it is seen, but as it is felt.

Working intuitively in layered acrylics, Candice transforms shifting skies, changing light, mountains, trees, fields, and organic forms into expressive abstract landscapes. Color is her guide, creating movement, depth, energy, and emotion.

Inspired by daily walks and time in nature, Candice is drawn to overlooked moments, the way light moves across a field, the rhythm of trees against the sky, or a sudden burst of color. These observations become the emotional starting point for her paintings.

Her background in graphic design informs her strong sense of composition, rhythm, and balance, her self-taught approach allows her to paint intuitively and develop a visual language of her own.

ARTIST’S STATEMENT

My practice explores how a landscape can be experienced not only as it's seen, but as it's felt. Using abstraction, I translate atmosphere, light, movement, and energy into bold, color-driven compositions. Color is my guide. Working primarily in acrylics, I intuitively build layers of color, form, and texture, allowing each painting to evolve organically through dynamic decisions made directly on the canvas. I’m drawn to the creative tension between structure and spontaneity, grounding my work in strong compositional balance while remaining fully open to an organic process.
