Cate Brown is an abstract artist of female nudes. She was born and raised in Ottawa but was heavily influenced by the works of Picasso and Matisse as well as sculptors Antony Gormley and Constantin Brancusi during her time spent in Europe. She started painting as a way to cope with long periods of isolation due to COVID-19 lockdowns.
For my first series of nudes entitled "Empowered Women," I have utilized every neutral colour of paint I could find to ensure that all women who view my work can see themselves somewhere in it. I want to my pieces to be representative and inclusive of the entirety of the female experience. Acrylic on canvas.
