ARTIST’S STATEMENT
The guiding principle of my practice is to create images and curate activities that capture and display alternative perspectives on the world often not seen due to their marginality – a vision that looks in from the outside, from the sidelines; that looks askance and askew at the world in order to understand the beauty in complexity, and expose the pain and joy that is rooted in the connections within and between people, communities, and the built and natural environment. In all areas of my creative practice, you can find me building bridges within and between marginalized communities/spaces, and between marginalized communities/spaces and loci of power, endeavoring to create and support art that promotes health, well-being, social change, and wonder.
