Currently residing in New York City, Christine Kwon was born and raised in South Korea. She came to the USA at the age of 16 and later moved to New York City to enroll in college, immersing herself in its vibrant art scene. After graduating, Christine spent over 18 years designing for well-known financial institutions and working on retail projects in the fast-paced interior design industry. Despite the demands of her career, her passion for painting remained a constant driving force.

Recently, Christine made the significant decision to transition from interior design and fully embrace her identity as a painter. This shift marks a new chapter in her life, allowing her to explore spiritual themes through expressive contemporary paintings. Her work is deeply informed by an emotional and unconscious sense of self, where past memories resurface and are translated onto the two-dimensional surface. Through her expressive art, Christine delves into the complexities of her identity and surroundings, creating works that communicate personal insights and reflections on her experiences and the world around her.

Christine holds a BFA in Interior Design from the Fashion Institute of Technology, and dual master’s degrees in Sustainability and Real Estate Development from both the Fashion Institute of Technology and the University of Miami. She is currently affiliated with the Loft Artists Association and RedDot Culture (Online Gallery).

My work is a journey of self-expression, where emotions, memories, and fleeting moments become abstract compositions of color and movement. With a background in design, I approach each piece through quick decisions, balancing instinct with intention while exploring freely within the painting. This process allows me to capture internal energy and discover new ways to tell my evolving story. I embrace the unknown, letting the painting guide me to push boundaries and uncover new possibilities. Each work reflects my past experiences, present feelings, and future aspirations—a continuous exploration of identity through dynamic and intuitive creation.
