Cindy Charles was born and raised in Montreal, where she currently resides and continues to create. She earned her Bachelor of Arts from McGill University in 1986. While pursuing her studies, Cindy managed her family’s music business from 1984 to 2001. During this time, she began honing her skills as a photographer.

What started as a creative outlet gradually evolved into a true passion. As technology advanced and digital cameras became more sophisticated, Cindy adopted new tools and techniques to enhance her work and broaden her artistic vision. Her images incorporate photography enhanced with a painterly feel.

Over the years, Cindy has received numerous accolades for her art, including contest wins and features in magazines. Her evolving style and dedication to this art form continue to earn her recognition in the world of photo artistry.

ARTIST’S STATEMENT

I’m a Montreal-based photo artist drawn deeply to the bold energy of Pop Art. I love its chaos, its colours, and its wild, unapologetic themes. Graffiti also inspires my work. It is often incorporated in my compositions.

Using Photoshop, I layer imagery, colours, and patterns to build dynamic, cohesive pieces that feel spontaneous and intentional. I have recently begun incorporating physical elements, such as gemstones, diamond dust, and gold leafing, into my work. This adds an extra layer, giving a more tactile quality.

My goal is for viewers of my work to feel that they can imagine these pieces on their walls, where large, vibrant canvases can energize their space and make a statement.
