My work explores the intersection of the human psyche, nature, and the cosmos. Through symbolic painting, I create visual ecosystems where the body, environment, and emotion merge into a single narrative. The female figure often appears as a central symbol of life—embodying vulnerability, sensuality, resilience, and transformation.

Natural elements such as fire, water, earth, celestial forms, shells, flowers, and seasonal cycles function as metaphors for emotional states including anxiety, trauma, addiction, rebirth, and healing. These symbols suggest that our inner worlds are as vast and mysterious as the universe around us.

My artistic voice was shaped by nearly two decades working in psychiatric hospitals, where I provided recreational and art therapy to children, seniors, and adults living with mental and physical disabilities. Witnessing how creativity could transform pain into expression reinforced my belief that art can be both restorative and connective.

My paintings extend beyond the canvas into hand-painted and upcycled garments—transforming clothing into living canvases that carry the same symbolic language as the work. This practice explores how art can move through everyday life while inspiring healing, empowerment, and human connection.

Sincerely,
Daniel Silvas

ARTIST’S STATEMENT

My body of work was founded on disruption, emotion, and transformation. It exists where fine art and wearable artifacts collide—where paintings and garments are not separate practices, but extensions of the same pulse. I create, to confront, to heal, and to expose what often goes unspoken, exploring themes of mental health, identity, trauma, resilience, and rebirth.

The canvas does not end at the frame—it continues onto the body, into the streets, and into lived experience. I founded Artista Nova, an art house that creates wearable artifacts not fashion; they are moving works of art, carrying the same weight and narrative as my paintings. Through upcycled materials, I reimagine what is discarded into symbols of survival and evolution.

Art is not passive. It is lived, worn, and felt.

Sincerely,
Daniel Silvas
