Elana Gor

Elana Gor is a Canadian contemporary visual artist based in British Columbia. Her practice brings together surrealism, symbolism, science, spirituality, and immersive technology.
With a scientific academic background, ongoing studies in painting and contemporary art at Emily Carr University of Art + Design, and long-term independent study of Kabbalah, sacred geometry, mythology, numerology, symbolism, and spiritual philosophy, Gor explores consciousness, transformation, memory, the journey of the soul, and the hidden architecture of reality.
Working in oil, acrylic, gold leaf, golden wax, impasto, and mixed media, she combines contemporary surrealism, symbolic expressionism, mystical realism, and geometric abstraction. Her paintings often incorporate sacred geometry, ancient symbols, Hebrew and Aramaic letters, hidden figures, architectural structures, spirals, pathways, and recurring visual codes.
Gor has also founded her own studio: Talking Paintings, an immersive art concept that connects original paintings with augmented reality, animation, sound, music, and storytelling. Her work has been exhibited in Canada and internationally, including British Columbia and Turin, Italy, and is held in private collections in Canada, Israel, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Kazakhstan.
She is a member of the Federation of Canadian Artists and an artist represented on Singulart.

ARTIST’S STATEMENT

My work explores the relationship between visible reality and the hidden worlds that may exist within and beyond it.
I am interested in consciousness, transformation, memory, choice, the journey of the soul, spiritual passage, and the possibility of multiple realities existing at once. My paintings are intentionally surreal and symbolic rather than realist. Figures, architecture, landscapes, sacred geometry, hidden symbols, letters, spirals, pathways, and visual codes become parts of a larger narrative.
My scientific background has shaped my fascination with patterns, systems, structures, and the unseen forces that connect different forms of life and experience. At the same time, my long-term study of Kabbalah, symbolism, mythology, and spiritual philosophy informs the deeper conceptual language of the work.
I work with oil, acrylic, gold leaf, golden wax, impasto, and mixed media to build layered surfaces that invite close observation and discovery. I do not want to give the viewer one fixed interpretation. Instead, I create spaces in which each person can find their own meaning, emotional connection, or story.
