Originally from Nova Scotia and a graduate of the Nova Scotia College of Art & Design, Emily moved to Toronto in 2006, settling in the neighbourhood of Little Portugal. She has been painting full-time since 2019, in tandem with her work as a graphic designer and raising a family.
ARTIST’S STATEMENT
My detailed acrylic and watercolour paintings aim to exemplify how every day objects and places can sit in our hearts. Careful consideration in photographing, editing and then composing the final painting of the chosen subject creates an additional level of familiarity — elevating and preserving it in my conscience. Gradually, the ordinary becomes important.
