ARTIST’S STATEMENT

I paint the landscapes and coastal places around me, paying close attention to light, colour, and the feeling of a particular moment. Painting outdoors allows me to respond directly to the changing conditions of nature, while working in the studio gives me time to revisit and develop those impressions.

I am also passionate about life drawing. I am continually working to improve my ability to observe and express the human figure, and hope to create more powerful and compelling figure paintings as this part of my practice develops. My background in architecture has shaped my interest in composition, space, and the relationships between forms.
