ARTIST’S STATEMENT
My painting practice always begins with a colour palette. It’s my starting point—the first emotional cue that sets the tone for everything that follows. I often choose colours based on how they make me feel in the moment, or how I imagine they’ll interact on the canvas. I’ve always been inspired by the colours and shapes found in nature, and over the years, I’ve given myself artistic license to interpret that palette in my own way. The motion of creating the circular shapes in my art is a form of meditation. It is my language of beauty, balance and harmony. I paint intuitively with no set expectation of the final piece, which allows me to change direction as I go. This freedom has not only given me the results I seek but also a sense of fun and joy. My hope is that the spirit of this intention comes across to the viewer.
