ARTIST’S STATEMENT
As a child of the sixties, I loved to colour and draw. There were no television screens or computer monitors at our house, but I was blessed with pencils and crayons.
Eventually, I grew up, forgot about art, and immersed myself in the field of natural healing. Thankfully, in my late forties and much to my surprise, I discovered the life-changing practice of intuitive painting.
This method of painting without a plan allows my imagination to run wild, and appeals to my inquisitive nature. Creating an abstract background with acrylics, I can hardly wait to stand back and see what images begin to emerge. As the hint of faces and figures appear on the canvas, I use a variety of media to develop the piece and the painted story unfolds.
I have learned that creative expression is good medicine. It can be a source of joy, a meditation, and a spiritual practice. My paintings are open to interpretation; by not censoring what shows up, I hope my work can offer insight, provide food for thought, and unlock portals to magical realms.
