Jane is a local Ottawa area artist who has been creative her whole life. In the last 8 years Jane has decided to seriously pursue the art of painting. She uses acrylics and oils in a loose painterly style with a strong underpainting peeking through. Her art is available to purchase on her website and local shows and galleries. Jane is a juried exhibiting member of the Federations of Canadian Artists and a member of the management team for the Art Hub run by Arts Carleton Place.

ARTIST’S STATEMENT

The pursuit of depicting our unique landscape, both flora and fauna, and incorporating its deep connection with Canadians. We live in beauty and in my art I strive to capture and connect with this. I try various styles and media to try and reach this unattainable melding of ideas and feelings with differing degrees of success.

The journey is the purpose of my art. The personal introspection of various seasons, landscapes and my personal physical and mental stages. Aging gives new perspectives and time to look back on life experiences through different lenses.

The Ottawa area has been my home for most of my life, I have deep connections to this place as I was raised on a farm and spent my childhood outdoors, this can’t help but to inform my art. Living in a small town with many interwoven connections continues to bind me to the community and the land, all these lived experiences I hope to express in my work.
