Jerome McRoy

Jerome was born on October 20, 1997, in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
His earliest experiences with art was in second grade using a molding template. Drawing creative characters and creatures from something so simple. Though I think what really set his heart a blaze for "The Arts" was when his teacher, Ms. Susan shared with him her art box. She stated that she drew a lot when she was a kid and now, she wanted him to have it. Time went on and he soon Developed an interest in graphic design through pencil drawings. POC-inspired works were frequently used for inspiration.

He would soon after, collaborate with several organizations, local companies, and events in the Minneapolis area. These organizations were interested in showing Minneapolis Talent. He worked with a variety of clients, including Red Door, Minneapolis
Biking Marathon, Eastside Thai, Lawyers For Hire, and others.

Eventually leading him to the gallery sector! Jerome would Graduate from Metropolitan State University in 2023
with a B.A in Studio Arts and a Minor in Digital Media. Some of his artworks have been featured at Vegan East (a vegan bakery business), a local cycling event called "Cirque du SoGay,"
which is affiliated with (Youth Pride), a logo for Youth Pride and Red Door Clinic downtown, A kid Illustrated book by the name of "Lil Flloyd", a
logo for Queer Voices, and exhibition work at the Gordon Park Gallery.

ARTIST’S STATEMENT

My portfolio is primarily composed of materials such as pencil, Copic markers, and acrylic paint. It offers me a sense of control and organization in my artwork. Structure is the most crucial factor that I consider when creating items. I want my audience to visualize contextual clues, motivations, and interpretations of the story that my artwork is attempting to portray.

I create immersive pieces by combining computer images with actual artwork. In turn, the audience will see what it required to physically produce some of the pieces. I believe it's crucial to share some of these qualities with your audience since it demonstrates authenticity and passion.

Telling a story is crucial, with pictures centered on inclusivity and bringing individuals who are underrepresented to the forefront. I hope that my artwork will help to create space and promote the progress of different communities in general. Serving as a catalyst for revealing untapped power in reclaiming their cultural heritage and identities.
