Artist Statement
Through my lens and vision, I connect with elements in my surroundings. Often these images inform my abstract painting.
I am a Canadian painter and photographer whose life is centered around the longest shoreline of the Great Lakes. Born in Sarnia, summers in Bayfield, and now in Tobermory, Lake Huron has provided me with a constant source of raw beauty and wonder from which I share my exposure, being at one with nature.
Flow state is the highly pleasurable sync between body and mind being completely absorbed in effortless momentum. I find that idealist bliss by intuitively applying paint to substrate, abstracting my environment, and capturing the immediacy of 3D emotions on to a flat surface, be that my studio floor, or creating along the Lake Huron shoreline. That intense raw and emotional experience is as vital to me as breathing. This release exposes a vulnerable, soulful, and honest expression of my source.
My art offers authentic visual poetry where my idea of beautifully different and interesting can speak to all.
I invite you to explore my work and get lost in the details.

Community is the inaugural painting in the "Community" series, embodying the rich diversity and harmony of a collective whole. The square format canvas is alive with organic shapes in a vibrant array of colours. These shapes, skillfully pushed and pulled into form, create an interconnected composition, where each colour contributes to the overall sense of unity. The painting serves as a visual metaphor for community, where individual elements come together to create something greater, celebrating the beauty of diversity and shared experience.

She Blushed is an evocative piece within the "Community" series. On a square format and a medium gray background, shades of pink, red, blush, and white are pushed and pulled into organic shapes. These forms create an interplay between opacity and transparency, with some areas revealing the layers beneath and others remaining solid. Black mark making lines add a touch of contrast, guiding the eye through the composition. She Blushed reflects the delicate yet powerful emotion captured in the work, where colour and form intertwine to express a moment of vulnerability and connection.

Pop Fluff and Fray is styled with bold energy utilizing a lively mix of colours, and contrasted by crisp whites that pop. The muted tones bring out the fluff, and the fray comes to life where the colours bleed and drip. These edgy and contemporary elements add to this expressive work, which is a celebration of colour and joyful chaos.
