Joe Rich
Joe Rich is a Toronto based artist. Working in acrylic, ink, spray paint and a variety of mediums Joe primarily paints on canvas and wood. Joe has studied art for the past 18 years and his work has shown in a variety of settings and galleries including the McMichael Gallery and two one person shows. Bold. Expressive. Works for the viewer to explore.
ARTIST’S STATEMENT
I see my work as a collaboration between the viewer, the canvas and myself. Within this triad I often see some remarkable and exceptional exchanges take place. I see the art of painting as a behaviour, designed to express feeling and thoughts. I measure each work upon completion with what are best described as the underpinnings of a well executed work and - if satisfied with the outcome - let go of the work for others to contemplate, enjoy and I imagine accept or reject.

Sometimes the simple can be come complicated in ways that are unexpected. This work began as simple but as it grew so did the complications of colour, form, energy, transition and shape. A sort of “beautifully complicated arrangement” - like life in so many ways.
