JT Thompson

JT Thompson is a visual artist whose work blends architectural surrealism, mythic symbolism, and contemplative spatial design. Based in Columbus, Ohio, he creates multi‑perspective labyrinths of stairways, portals, and shifting geometries that explore memory, transition, and the evolving self. Each composition functions as a quiet architectural presence—an environment that invites viewers to slow down, reflect, and discover new layers over time.
Thompson’s practice bridges painting, drawing, and systems‑based thinking, treating each piece as a living structure where emotional and spatial logic meet. His work appears in public and private collections, including hospitality and institutional spaces, where its depth and clarity transform the atmosphere of a room. Through the Labyrinth Series, he continues to expand a visual language rooted in introspection, geometry, and mythic architecture.

ARTIST’S STATEMENT

My work explores the architecture of inner life—how memory, identity, and transition take shape as spaces we move through. The Labyrinth Series is built from stairways, portals, and shifting geometries that mirror the complexity of navigating one’s own thoughts and experiences. Each piece functions as a contemplative environment, inviting viewers to slow down, reflect, and discover new layers over time.
I approach every composition as a living structure where emotional logic and spatial logic meet. The interplay of light, depth, and perspective creates a sense of quiet movement, as if the architecture itself is thinking. These works are designed to transform the atmosphere of a room, offering a moment of pause within the flow of daily life.
Through mythic undertones and architectural clarity, my practice aims to create spaces—both literal and symbolic—where viewers can encounter themselves in new ways.
