My name is Julian Quattro. I am a Toronto based visual artist. Art has always been my number one passion, whether through drawing, painting, decorating, or photography. I grew up taking art classes, as well as exploring art on my own. I have experimented with many different styles, and feel I have finally found what truly inspires me.

ARTIST’S STATEMENT

I use various methods and materials to achieve the look I want for a specific piece. I tend to be drawn to the taboo and eye catching. Inspiration for my often gothic and sci-fi-esque art comes from all around, including movies, fashion, and architecture. My work is in large part informed by traditional art, such as renaissance and Pre-Raphaelite paintings, as well as my imagination and comic books.

I use an assortment of water based markers on watercolour paper, as well as oil based pencil crayons. I sometimes incorporate fabric or patterned papers in my work. Backgrounds vary, and are sometimes left blank, or incorporate an abstract style.

Original artwork, drawn using a variety of water based markers, on thick, 8 by 10 watercolour paper. Frame is 11 by 14. This synthetic showpiece spider is being displayed in 3022. Art deco is back, and real spiders are a thing of the past. This 6 legged spider is ready to be your new robotic pet.

For this piece, I was inspired by comic books, architecture, spiders, robots, royalty, wrought iron fences, and chess pieces, as well as the future and the past.
