ARTIST’S STATEMENT

For me, everything starts and stops with light. It will make or break your photos and is often the first thing I notice when walking the streets. Light can shape the way we view a scene. The hard, geometric shadows of the midday sun. A gap between skyscrapers spotlighting a slice of the city. A pool of reflected light that has bounced of numerous panes of glass before falling to the street and creating beautifully ethereal patterns. On a fundamental level, light is my main subject and I try and use it to convey a sense of mood and emotion within my photography and highlight slivers of Toronto and the numerous lives, stories, and mysteries that inhabit it.
