Lamis Kanaan

LAMIS / ‘ lah·mees /
noun 1. a female name of Arabic origin that means ‘soft to the touch’ or ‘soft to the hand’

By leveraging a maximalist aesthetic, Lamis explores intuitive interpretations of subconscious, organized chaos, and fluid geometric forms. All with an innate sense of play. This allows every piece to be as fun as it is timeless — evoking the joy, wonder, and freedom of our inner child.

Lamis Kanaan, Jordan born artist currently residing in San Francisco. After graduating from Ringling College of Art + Design, Lamis started working as a licensed Interior Designer.
She began tufting in 2022 as a creative outlet, and it soon catalyzed the connection between her Eastern heritage and her Western influences.
Named after her Bosnian grandmother, Lamis’s attraction to the art of textile making is as serendipitous as it is meaningful. Her name — meaning “soft to the touch” — holds rich heritage from its Arabic origins and beautifully relates to her passion for textiles.
This focus on soft fabrics and vibrant colors in her touchable artwork empowers Lamis to bridge both sides of self.
